Homemakers

Homemakers is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to domestic violence survivor support by providing victims with everything they need to help rebuild after domestic violence. We source second-hand furniture and goods from thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales, social media platforms like Facebook Marketplace, and private donations. Our mission is to create a harmonious and calming environment using carefully selected items that offer continuity in color and design.

The result is a coordinated appearance, rather than random pieces thrown together. We provide everything a person or family would need to start anew, ranging from silverware to dishes, clocks, beds, and more. By focusing on support for abused women and children, we aim to close the gap in needs faced by domestic abuse survivors. Utilizing second-hand and donated items enables us to keep expenses low, allowing us to provide help for domestic violence survivors more effectively.

Many domestic violence victims often feel trapped in their situations, as a domestic abuser typically controls substantial aspects of their lives, including finances. This control can severely limit a victim's ability to leave, especially if they lack the necessary funds to support themselves. For a parent escaping an abusive environment with two children, the cost of furnishing a two-bedroom apartment can reach nearly $12,000. Homemakers recognized this urgent need and discovered that by using second-hand goods, we can fully furnish the same apartment for around $2,500. For just $1,500, we can furnish a 1-bedroom apartment, making a significant impact in the lives of those we serve.
